Mrs. Jennifer Coward is the Director of Crandall COMPASS Academy. She has been serving students in education for 21 years. Earning her BA from Tarleton State University in English and Theater, Mrs. Coward taught English, social studies, debate, and coached tennis at both middle and high school before entering into administration. Mrs. Coward earned her M.Ed. from Texas Wesleyan University and was testing coordinator in two districts prior to her position in Crandall ISD. She knows that every student has a story, their mistakes do not define who they become, and that the best is yet to come.
Mrs. Coward believes in building a team of educators that truly want to affect change in the lives of the students that she serves. Because Crandall COMPASS Academy facilitates both the alternative education program STARS, as well as the disciplinary education program DAEP, she understands the power of relationships and the profound impact that one teacher can have in a student's life. Relationships are what make education successful. By emphasizing building them, students become more open to sharing their lives, which in turn allows the staff to help them find their true purpose.
Relationships are paramount to Mrs. Coward in her personal life as well as her professional life. She is married to Sam Coward, who is also a school administrator, and has three boys: Jackson, Jamison, and Case. When not in school, the Coward family can be found spending time with friends and family by their pool, camping at various state parks, and staying busy with the boys' extracurricular activities.
